Exhaustion: The Phoenix Wars (1/?)

When the battle started Tyleril ceased to exist.

No, Tyleril was there.

Saying he ceased to exist was a lie.

But was he  Tyleril alone?

No. He was Tyleril and he was not. The priests of Belore that made up those under his command focused at his command. The fear, the anger, the worrying emotions that knotted up his stomach dissipated as the Light filled him with calm. It all felt so much easier when he let go, trusting in the Light. Belore’s Priests let out a soft sigh as they began to follow his lead.

He didn’t know if he was the Priestess of Belore that wore her only daughter’s bracelet around a slender wrist, the other priest who held a staff that had seen more battles than the Priest had years, or if he was the one who cast heals with charcoal stained hands.  Some distant part of him cried out in protest at this loss of self, drowning in the Light’s peace, suffocating on serenity.

A breath later and the protest was gone.

FOCUS.

The training he’d received in the Guard, countless months of practice and the soundless command of the Light echoed in his soul. Nothing existed beyond their purpose.

HEAL

Flesh would mend, the Light’s Divine Grace would shield. There was nothing to fear. Nothing but the enemy. Nothing but the loss of his lovers and children. Everything he loved the most. Everything that mattered. Their will was stronger than iron, their faith unshakable. The Light was with them. But he was so scared, so scared for what he loved. He couldn’t lose them.

SACRIFICE

Tyleril was the pillar. They were his support. Can’t attack to save yourself or any of them.  He lived to serve. But just once he selfishly wished to hug them all one more time.  Divine Light, Guiding Light. Wordlessly, through force of will and centuries of deeply rooted faith, the Light flowed through them

The Spider Tank was of Gnomish Invention. There was no time for surprise when it got close and tore at his robes. Elleynah’s healing soothed what had been damaged- they felt it not at all.

HEAL.

A wordless plea brought the Light’s grace, manifesting as a shield upon a arcane construct. They moved among the cries of the wounded, the sound of magic crackling, swords singing loudly. Gryphons flew in the air as arrows whistled through their feathers. Sweat dripped down their brow and then Tyleril could not truly tell where he began, they ended, and if the Light’s will wasn’t their own then Tyleril couldn’t tell.

Smoke stung at their throat, trying to steal their voices. Sweat began to soak their reinforced cloth padding as a migraine began to pound at Tyleril’s skull.  They were only flesh and blood and flesh and blood would eventually tire. Even as the Light filled their veins with strength, infused them with purpose, their strength would slowly ebb.

THE FINAL RITES.

Walk swift now,” The mournful tone escaped Tyleril’s lips without thought. Sanarissa’s face came to mind. The last rites were always the most important. “For the shadows lurk to claim thy soul. Seek out the Light, for it’s eternal embrace welcomes you.” They didn’t see what happened, what had tried to steal Sanarissa’s lifeblood from her body.

Like so many things running through their mind it did not matter. What mattered was that the Light’s will had been done. Sanarissa would survive.

Their attention turned to other things.

One by one the enemy commanders fell. Whether it was the Light’s blessing, pure luck, or something else Tyleril didn’t guess. The pounding pain of the migraine was a dull angry reminder that there was no they. There was only Tyleril and he was only a man. A man who was limited.

—-

The brightness of his halo began to fade as his words slowed,  The soundless words of the Light faded to whispers.  His Priests stood behind him and the priestess tilted her head up, acknowledging Tyleril’s golden gaze.

“Light be praised!”

He wished for rest and soon, he would get it. Their enemies- dwarves and gnomes- fled the field, lost without their commanders.

It was, for now, done.

Call to Arms

rambleverse:

Gideon wakes to a dark room. There will be hours yet until the sun rises again, and the task of the night before robs him of a rested ride. But this is not about a full night’s sleep, or the sun rising on familiar fields: this is not about what aught to be.

Gideon rises from his bunk, and with a bit of fumbling, lights the last stub of candle at his desk. Flickering below the beeswax lies his only guide: a map stuck together by weeks of Hawks flying–bloodied and tired–to give their home a fighting chance.

Their home.

Dragon Lore 101: Soul and Heart of Aspect

worldofdoodlecraft:

worldofdoodlecraft:

*Warning! This is a personal headcanon, therefore it is not 100% cannon with the WoW lore universe. I gathered some lore tidbits and made this headcanon so you don’t have to!*

*Okay disclaimer done time for rambling.*

This headcanon plays with the upcoming resurrection story series for The Sunguard.

Introuction:

The death of Neltharion, now known today as Deathwing the Destroyer, was both good as it was bad for the other Aspect flights. Through his deception, the remaining four flights offered up their essence to create The Dragon Soul in order to defeat the Burning Legion. (I’m not going to go full detail on the lore behind the Dragon soul, so here’s a link to the lore itself. ) When Deathwing died the Dragon Soul was used causing the Dragon Aspects and their respective flights to be powerless, more mortal than immortal, and lose the ability to reproduce. ( I will rant about that later). However, thanks to a certain pet and mount you can get in the store, the lost power of the dragon aspects are closer then we thought.

image

Yep, I’m talking about the Soul of the Aspects and the Heart of the Aspects. Thanks to these guys who were released during the Cataclysm expansion, we understand how much power was made in order to create the Dragon Soul and create living dragons out of that power. However since they are linked to the Dragon Soul as power, they cannot reporduce to create more of themselves. Instead they need a ‘parent’ dragon.

Soul of the Aspect and the ‘Parent Dragon’

image

The ‘Parent’ dragon to the Soul whelp has to follow these criteria or conditions in order for the Soul to be created:

  • Must be one of the five flights (Red, blue, green, etc.)
  • Must be living and lived past the death of Deathwing (Deathknight mounts or Netherwing drakes are not inclued)
  • The parent dragon must have been gifted or be granted enough magic to live through the seperation of essence for the soul to be born. (Young adults to Ancients is a good example of an age range)

If the ‘Parent’ dragon meets all these conditions, then the Soul Whelp was most likely formed when the Dragon Soul was shattered in use of finishing Deathwing off. The process could have taken place within hours of the Dragon Soul being shattered to a couple of years depending on the Dragon itself.

Now when the Soul of the Aspect is alive and zooming around, it carries the same traits as parent dragon used to or currently carries. It can also shift itself so it matches the parent dragon as one of their very own whelps. However, it does not grow for it serves a bigger purpose for the ‘Parent’ as unsettling and devastating the true purpose of the whelp is. After all, it is not named “Soul of the Aspect” for nothing.

The Count Down and Rise of the Heart of the Aspect

When the ‘Parent’ dragon critically wounded, severally ill, or even more tragically died, then the Soul whelp finally begins to ‘evolve’. Having deep devotion to duty and love for the ‘Parent’ dragon, it lets loose all the concentrated power that has created its very being and allows it to transform into its full-grown adult state.

image

No longer a ‘Soul’ in a sense, the Heart of the Aspects is now the next ‘beating heart’ for the Parent dragon. When the Heart has found the wounded dragon it lays itself on top of them and transforms into pure light. During this all the pure light wraps around the Parent dragon, granting it intense healing to the point of bringing the dragon back to life. When brought to life the Parent dragon is now alive and well and ready to serve Azeroth once more as its sacred guardian with light armour or scales of where the Heart of the Aspect has healed it the most.

There are however conditions that are to be met for this to happen accordingly.

  • The Heart of the Aspect must feel close to the Parent dragon. (If it views it less then itself then it shall fly off as free dragon energy)
  • The Heart of the Aspect must be able to find the Parent dragon within a weeks time or else the deceased Parent’s soul has moved on, allowing the Heart to grieve and move on as a living memory of the Parent.
  • Once the ritual begins, under no circumstances should anyone interrupt it. Otherwise, both the Parent and the Heart are sacrificed for nothing.

The Funeral

Although it is unknown to how the dragon flights treat these power essence of themselves, there can be a sense of the closeness of seeing them as their own children. Once the Heart of the Aspect is dead the Parent dragon can take the remaining armour of the devoted child and bury it in memory of them. It can be buried near the dragon flight shrines in Northerend or close by to where the Parent dragon resides the most. This relationship can only happen once so if the Parent dragon dies again then it cannot be resurrected by another Heart of the Aspect. Other living creatures of Azeroth may be able to revive a dragon, but the ritual would be more complex as well as dangerous with a very low success rate.

Wrap Up

And this is the end of the headcanon of the Store battle pet and mount as well as possible lore relationships between them and the Dragon flights. Again I’m happy to share these headcanons as a way to bring more dragon roleplayers into the community and to most of all have more fun in the role play community. I’ll be making a 3-4 story series of this process as an example of this head cannon. So stay tuned for the next one! 😀

(With recent events of Dragons being policed by lore again, I’m reblogging this. When will I finish this project: unknown)

Compendium of Light: A word to the Protectors

tyleril-silversword:

image

“You have chosen a path less traveled. You lift up your chosen weapon not to take on the path of redistribution or healing, but to be a guardian for your allies. Know now that this path is stained with blood and sacrifice. But know that the Light is with you and as you go on this path it will stay with you, giving you fortitude.

The path of the protector is to serve  their allies, to protect them with their magic, their shields, and if needed, their lives. The Light has helped guide you to this path, for within you it sees that you are able to shoulder the heavy burden that comes with these choices.  Few are blessed with such inner strength and fewer still are those able to carry the burden. But with this burden the Light bestows some of its greatest gifts. You are the guardian of the weak and the helpless, the ardent defender of your allies, the shield of the righteous.

Remember that you are of the Light. No more do you trod the path of the normal man. You walk the path of Light, ever climbing from shadow to shadow, to the highest realm of existence. But others do not see the sacrifice you make and the burdens you carry. But everytime when you do your vigil listen to the Light for the comfort and love it offers with the wisdom it gives.

When you are wounded and broken in soul, when your heart bleeds and your strength is fading then remember this: Your path is never easy. But when the burden you carry causes you to stumble do not forget you are never alone. In your allies seek out their strength. We cannot carry on forever on our own strength- to do is the highest peaks of hubris. Seek out your allies for the bons of companionship will strengthen you. For it is when you are weakened that others will try to tempt you off the righteous path.

Remember that these bonds and the Light will be what keeps you through the worst of times.

Do not forget, however, to live. Do not refrain from enjoying your life For it is from these small joys and sorrows that you will grow in the path of the protector, until such a time when you are called home by the Light.
