We see her whenever she shows herself in the sky. Elune. The White Moon. In her hands she carries mysteries and magic. But in some mysteries the value is in the seeking of them and the love for the unknown.
Elune is love and she is mercy. The gentle hand that binds your wounds and the hand that stills the blade before it can pierce your heart. She is wild and free, allowing you to catch her only long enough to renew your interest in the chase before she leaves your arms and darts off once more. Teacher and guiding hand. Beloved silver Light and the wind that runs its hands through your hair in the forest.
My husband told me once that she was not just one woman but many. He was a hunter in the forest and told me a story that had been told to him. In it Elune spoke without words to her chosen. But her voice was not just one woman. It was young like a maiden, rich and warm, and the wise dry voice of an elder woman at once.
But she is not all kindness and mercy. She will not allow her faithful to call upon her for evil acts or let them be done in her name. Those who seek to profane nature and dedicate evil acts to her will lose her love and magic. They will dry and wither away like plants. If they do not dry and wither away then they will suffer. To lack the Goddess after you have known her is to lose color in life.
She can be the cold and unforgiving waves of the sea rushing into your lungs. The dark wind that makes you shiver knowing something is watching. She’ll hide her silvery light from you and with it gone there is only darkness. Without that light what stops the monsters from our dreams becoming reality?
Power brings responsibility and consequences. The power she gives is not without such consequences, as one should expect. Does she give blessings with the intent to be unkind? I do not think so. She is powerful beyond mortal imagining but not all powerful. Wise beyond mortal imagining but not all knowing.
I opened myself to the Light today and I rabble in my writing. Power drunk maybe- or Light drunk? Is it possible? High more likely to write so. But what a pleasant way to write.
Harken ye to the words of the White Lady, known among many names- the mother goddess, the mother moon, the night warrior but most frequently known as Elune.
Whenever you seek wisdom during the night, come together in love and trust and learn of Her, the wise moon. You who search for the mysteries of Azeroth.. The secrets of moonlight and sunlight, of healing and moonfire, the silence of the most distant stars, come unto me and Sheshall whisper to you in the depths of the night.
Approach Her in silence, as a sign you are free from fear, hands held out in supplication. If you are not evil you need not fear Her… for evil has no place in Her presence, and if you seek to use my power with dark intent I shall deny you. For I am Elune, the white Lady in the sky. She is the silence before birth and after death. She is the silver light that illuminates your path in the darkness. She is always there with you, between the stars and watching from above. I was with you at the beginning and She shall be with you in the end. She will meet you at the crossroads, lead you through the darkness, grasping you hands to lead you in the passage between the emerald dream and this world. To those that seek Her out She offers Her grace and love. Yet to the true and dedicate She offers gifts beyond mortal comprehension.
Of you She shall tell you the utter truth of what you are, and in return She might be silent when you ask answers She will not give, know that She will always love you. She will take pride in your triumphs and when you suffer She will weep with you and for you.
Elune speaks to us through the world. She is the silvery light that lights your path at night, the gentle breeze against your cheek and the spray of the ocean. Even when the sky goes dark and you do not see her, do not fear. Take Elune’s love and hold it in your heart with you everywhere.

Hail to the White Lady ! Hail,to the BLue Child! Hail, Mother and daughter of night! With elated eyes look on both of us: send to those sitting here speed!
Hail to you, Elune! Hail,to the Moon goddess! Hail, to Her that givest to all! Goodly spells and speech bespeak we from you, and healing hands, in this life.
-Prayer to Elune
Elune, you are my Goddess, My longing, My flowing stream, My bright moon, And I bask in your silver light.
Taken from an excerpt of a Night Elven Priest’s personal writings:
“Live Fully for that is the purpose of life. Refrain not from your existence. For it is we grow to learn and understand, until such time as we leave our body, spiraling up the lunar pathway to the Emerald Dream and Beyond.
Walk the fields and forests; see the moonwells and be refreshed by the cool winds and touch of the moonlight. The Goddess and White Child sing in the ancient places: The deserted seashore, the wilds ofAzsuna, the roaring waterfalls. We are blessed to feel the moonlight on us and should rever Her, so do Her honor.
Celebrate the rites on the approriate days and seasons, but fear not if one is missed. The Goddess knows and she understands. When you call upon her power, do so when you need it and not for frivolous ends. Know that using her power for cruelty and in anger is a perversion and she shall remind you, with the face of a mother whose heart is broken, that she will not tolerate it.
But for those who love and magnify love, the richness of life and the blessings of Elune will be your reward. Nature will celebrate.
Love Elune, follow in her way and never will you walk alone.”
